River Valley Juvenile Detention Center

Established in 1990 as the Will County Temporary Juvenile Detention Facility, the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center was opened in the Summer of 1999.

This modern facility emphasizes access to education, physical and mental health care, recreation, and religious services.  Focus is placed on intensive and ongoing staff training to better serve the residents of  the River Valley Detention Center.  Policies reflect statutory regulations as well as the expectations and standards of the Illinois Department of Corrections and the American Correctional Association.
