Part of the River Valley Justice Center, this 102 bed Juvenile Detention Center is located in Joliet, Illinois. Developed as a joint venture between Will and Kankakee Counties, RVDC is a temporary placement center for juveniles, between the ages of ten and seventeen, awaiting court decisions on their cases. While in secure detention, juveniles participate in the Juvenile Education program as well as a wide variety of Programming conducted by both the Juvenile Detention Staff and Community Social Service Groups.
During the year 2019, the Detention Center admitted a total of 565 juveniles, of which 346 were from Will County, 193 were from Kankakee County and 26 were from other Illinois Counties.
Of all 565 intakes 458 were males and 107 were females. The average age of all intakes was sixteen.
